Mariannette:
There are many possible causes for your unilateral leg edema. I belive it is probably unrelated to your raised diastolic pressure. Before you can be treated the cause must be established. I assume your doctor has eliminated the more common causes. Therefore you need to see an internist who can examine you and work her/his waythrough the diagnostic process. Please see: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/524606_Tables
to realize just how complicated the work-up can be. Good luck!.
I have stubbornly high diastolic BP (90-100) & swelling in the left foot,
which has little muscle tone, from MS. Diuretics & BP meds have no impact on the
edema. Any suggestions, other than walking more, which is very difficult to do
to any meaningful degree. I participate in low-impact pool aerobics 3X week.
